Welcome to Pog Mo Thoin Racing's Website!
Team Pog Mo Thoin Racing
Here you will find information about our sponsors, our team members, our car and LOTS of fun stuff. We work very hard to promote our sponsors, so please when you visit them or talk to them or their employees tell them you saw their information on our site.
Because so many of you are not Irish (nor am I, but my wife is) you may be wondering what Pog Mo Thoin (pronounced: poge ma hone) means. It's gaelic for "Kiss My Ass". Cailin and I decided one day that we didn't like the term "bless you" when we sneezed, so one day she says "Pog Mo Thoin" when I sneezed and when she told me what it means, well it just stuck. When we were forming the race team, it just seemed natural that it be on the back of the car for all those behind to read as I pass them.

We still have space available for your ads! Most people we talk to look at the sponsorship they buy on a racecar at TMS as a gift to the racer to go play or an expense with very little return. These businesses will buy an ad in a newspaper, for $100, 200, 300 an issue (this works out to thousands of dollars very year), but do not see the value of advertising with one of the race teams. This is a misconception that PogMo and a couple of other race teams are working hard to change. We are using the interent to add value to our packages, we have schedules with us to hand out, we ensure posters get put up to attract as many fans to the races as possible. Some of us will be in the Stampede Parade (there are 10 spots available for racers plus the truck I will be driving), we put on a meet the drivers function in the week before or day of one of our events (last year it drew a couple hundred people). The space on a racecar has great value as advertising space, but is not the only way the advertisers name gets out there. TMS has a list of the cars with their "sponsors" that they work very hard to make sure get mentioned during every race meet. There are speakers in the pits, and as last years announcer, believe me, if the team sponsors do not get mentioned enough, or are missed, the racers KNOW and let the tower/announcer know about it! Racers are famous for talking to EVERYONE about the passion we have for our sport and we take great pride in telling people about our sponsors. These businesses/people have helped us and we show our appreciation by telling people we talk to about the "great people down at x-y-z inc." or "what a great place to do business". There seems to be a misconception that "very few people will see the ads" or that "not very many spectators come out to our events". This is also incorrect, even our regular events see spectators out in the hundreds, most of our special events see the crowd over the thousand number or very close to it. We have 2 regular race days this season and 7 special events days. These include our opening day with the ARCA cars, 2 crash to pass events, the Katana boats series, our mini invitational (which brings pro minis from all over BC) and our points finals day. All totaled we expect to see about 10,000 spectators over the course of a season. Pog Mo Thoin Racing is still seeking a couple more businesses to advertise with us. We take particular pride in promoting our sponsors on our website, linking to other websites, helping them to take advantage of the events we race at and give them the opportunity to get noticed throughout the year, not just at the races during the summer. There is a reason Ferrari's race budget for the 2009 season is 72 million dollars! Racing is a sport with a huge fan base and the locals don't just watch it on TV, they come out to the races because they like the noise, the action, the feel, the whole experience that is stock car racing in Williams Lake.
